Mobile tyre fitting vs a garage: which is right for you?

Compare convenience, safety, cost factors and the situations where each option makes sense.

Choose based on the situation

A garage can be a good choice for planned work when the vehicle is safe to drive and you are happy to travel and wait. Mobile fitting is designed for convenience and for situations where driving could worsen the damage or put you at risk.

A mobile service can attend a home, workplace or safe roadside location, bringing tyre-changing and balancing equipment. The price may include a call-out or travel component, but it can also save recovery costs and several hours of disruption.

When mobile fitting is especially useful

Consider a mobile fitter when the tyre is completely flat, the vehicle is not safe to drive, you have limited time, or several vehicles need tyres at the same workplace. It is also useful when you cannot leave children, work or another responsibility to sit in a waiting room.

Ask for a complete quote

Whether you choose a garage or mobile service, check what the quote includes: the tyre, fitting, valve, balancing, disposal and any call-out charge. Giving the correct tyre size and postcode at the start makes comparisons much more meaningful.

This guide is general information, not a remote tyre inspection. If the vehicle or location is unsafe, stop driving and seek appropriate professional assistance.
